28-30 September 2012: Annual Gathering, Hathersage, Peak District

Eight members of London Red Rope attended the Annual Gathering for the whole national club, at Thorpe Farm Bunkhouse, above Hathersage in the Peak District.

On Saturday most of us did a combination navigation exercise/longish walk, assembling a series of grid references given us into a circuit that turned out to take us along Stanage.

Dropping off Stanage, we tried walking a bearing to the “Glory Stones”, but we were never quite sure whether we had found them. We descended into Bamford for a quick pint, then back to Thorpe Farm for dinner and a quiz.

Sunday morning was the formal AGM, but we only had one motion to debate — is this a record? — about making electronic delivery of the Monthly Information Sheet something you have to opt out of, not opt in (this was adopted). After lunch we had a less formal discussion of how to boost membership, before heading home.
