27 January 2013: Richmond Park

BlogAnnie and Claire led  this “meander and gossip” walk across Richmond Green, along the towpath – the river was brimming and rushing because of the tide and the snowmelt –  then up through the Petersham Gate and along bracken and turf paths round and about the Park (sternly avoiding boring tarmac roads).  Most of the time it was lovely and sunny except for a shower and a rainbow and Woody chased a herd of deer but did not catch us any venison.

Annie found a stall near the Penn Ponds which sold delicious bacon butties so we had our lunch near it.  Back through the Isabella Plantation (which blazes with azaleas in season) and tea with proper Red Rope cakes  and  scones at the Petersham Nurseries cafe.

A happy walk, twelve of us –and a dog.
