17 March 2013: Enfield Lock to Chingford

Jean led this short day-after-the-party walk with a late start, following section 18 of the London Loop. Five of us braved the on-off rain, starting off through areas of the Lea Navigation on well-made paths. Lunch was eaten sitting on a tree trunk in woodland which at least partly sheltered us from the rain. We were greeted here by some young motorbikers passing by.

After lunch we had a hazy view over the reservoirs before heading off across fields and woodland paths which unfortunately were deep in slippery mud. However we all made it to the newly refurbished Butler’s Retreat tearoom next to Queen Elizabeth’s Hunting Lodge for refreshment before our journey home.
