New Year 2014: Stoney Middleton

This was a six night trip, staying in the Derbyshire Pennine Club’s hut which was in the village of Stoney Middleton — and just down the hill from the plague village of Eyam.

The weather was not great, but on our first day we joined up with Sheffield Red Rope’s Sunday walkers, going up to Eyam and then up onto the moor behind, passing some local llamas on the way.

By New Year’s day most of us had had enough of the rain, and spent the day looking at sculpture, first at the Hepworth Gallery in Wakefield and then at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park nearby at Bretton Hall.
