9 February 2014: Acton Town to Richmond

Seven of us set off from Pam’s house through Gunnersbury Park, with its mansions formerly belonging to the Rothschild family, and on to the Thames Path beside Kew Bridge. From there it was a pleasant walk past the Thames houseboats and a short distance up the Grand Union Canal at Brentford to Syon Park for lunch in the cafe.

After lunch we were caught in a short sharp shower as we approached Old Isleworth, but then it stayed dry to Richmond where we crossed the bridge and parted for shopping or station as preferred. The river looked full and fast-flowing but in no immediate danger of flooding in that area.
