16th March 2014: Richmond Park

Sunday was a lovely, warm, sunny day and there were 12 of us strolling, led by Sara. First up Richmond Hill, looking at the amazing view from there over the river and country beyond – (and at the house where Mick Jagger lived- at least we thought we were looking at the right one). Then into the park, down to Pen Ponds where we had a break for lunch, onto Isabella Plantation, which is already full of camellias and ‘magnolia stellata’ (beautiful, white, daisy-like flowers on as yet leafless trees). Then Sara took us to Petersham Nurseries for tea and cake.

The park was packed with runners, cyclists, families, babes in pushchairs – and too many cars. It felt good to see so many people out in the sun enjoying the day.
