27 April 2014: Hildenborough to Tonbridge

Image

At London Bridge station we were immediately faced with two challenges: Don was too ill to lead the walk, and our train to Hildenborough was cancelled. Jonathan and I quickly picked out a new route on the map, and we upgraded our tickets to returns to Tonbridge. We then found out that our train to Tonbridge was also going to stop at Hildenborough, so we reverted to Plan B(?). From Hildenborough we followed a bluebell-rich path through Home Covert and stopped for a drink in the pretty village of Leigh. We then went through the edge of the Penshurst Place estate to the river Medway, and followed the Eden Valley Walk back to Tonbridge. Tea was at Finch House on the High Street.
