11th May 2014: East Farleigh to Beltring

Five of us enjoyed a lovely walk along the River Medway for about 7 miles, led by Alison. The rain held off and at times it was sunny and warm. The cow parsley and may blossom and many other flowers were in full bloom and the birds were singing. We saw lots of boats moored up at Wateringbury and Yalding, but not much moving until we came across a group of young kayakers who seemed determined to overload their craft and succeeded in capsizing. No harm done. Tea was at the quaint Teapot Island, but we skipped visiting the teapot collection on this occasion. We returned from Beltring station, which must compete for the title of station with least facilities in the south-east – just a shelter with a bench only big enough for 2.
