18th May 2014: Bayford to Hertford via Cole Green

Steve led this moderate seven mile walk through Hertfordshire farmland. It was mainly gentle terrain with some fine views over the Lea Valley towards the mid-Hertfordshire ridge. The route followed the Hertfordshire Chain Walk from Bayford via Little Berkhamstead to Letty Green (5km). Here it took the old rail line, now Cole Green Way, to a lunch stop at the picnic area above the Cowper’s Arms pub in Cole Green. From picnic area or pub the walk continued into Hertford where there were several options for tea, coffee, or beer near the Castle, before returning to King’s Cross.
