29th June 2014: Welwyn Garden City to Ayot St Lawrence

Undulating mid-Herts countryside made this fairly easy going over fields, woods and a golf course. At Ayot St Lawrence there was a stop for picnic lunch in the old churchyard. There were opportunities to visit Bernard Shaw’s house (NT, £7 per adult, full of interest for Shavians) or the Brocket Arms (16thC upmarket pub, full of interest for drinkers).
