17th May 2015: Tring and Ivinghoe Beacon

Claire and Nicola led this eight mile walk in the Chilterns, partly following the Icknield Way.

We had lunch on Ivinghoe Beacon, with a view to the chalk lion on the far hillside advertising Whipsnade Zoo, and whole squadrons of model aircraft.

Getting a little lost in Aldbury churchyard …

We returned via the Bridgewater Monument, on the Ashridge Estate, and found ourselves in the middle of the Great British Dog Walk – suddenly there were a LOT more dogs around than Woody. We stopped there for tea, and the largest scones-with-cream I have ever seen, then returned through Aldbury to Tring station.
