30th October 2015: SOAS concert and meal at Ravi Shankar

The social last Friday was fun, although the advertised harpist at the free SOAS concert could not appear as the Home Office (grrrr) had refused to renew his visa and he had to leave the country. Instead we heard a couple playing flute and guitar and singing – but with added electronic effects. I personally found it interesting and exciting but it was not to everyone’s taste.
SOAS was involved in protests against cuts in courses and tendering out of services , but the demonstrators told us the action was in daytime only (!) and it was fine to go to the concert.
Afterwards Damien, Dot, Jessie, Jonathan, Mike, Pam, Trudi and Val walked to Ravi Shankar, the vegetarian Indian restaurant in Drummond Street, and enjoyed a tasty meal, some of us with wine. It was crowded, so thanks to Dot for reserving a table.
