17th December 2015: Faversham to Whitstable

DSC00370This was the final stretch of the walk downriver which some of us started at Dartford back in August. Passing through the interesting streets of Faversham from the station we continued along Faversham Creek through a marshy, riverside landscape to which we had become accustomed. After lunch on the shore we made a pit stop at the Sportsman pub before reaching Seasalter. From here there was some road walking between the seaside chalets and along the beach into Whitstable at 4pm. This gave us time to visit the Neptune pub before proceeding to our booked celebratory meal at Wheeler’s Oyster Bar, a tiny restaurant like someone’s front room. The fish was excellent and went down well with the wine purchased from The Offy opposite as the restaurant is BYO. All agreed that the walk had been a great success and thanked Jo and Humphrey for organising it. It is hoped to start a new long-distance project in the New Year.
