15th March 2016: Vanguard Way, Forest Row to Poundgate

The latest stretch of the Vanguard Way through the Ashdown Forest proved challenging navigationally, being short on waymarks and without our usual satnav (Humphrey). However Don and others with maps guided us through. After what seemed a long time circuiting a golf course, we made our way through woodlands, stopping for lunch on a fallen tree. At one point it seemed we might have to wade through a stream but fortunately another route was found. The open heathlands of Ashdown Forest were very attractive but unfortunately the misty weather hid the views which must be lovely on a sunny day. We finished in time for a quick pub visit before catching the bus to Tunbridge Wells and home.
