15th April 2016: Socialist Opposition to World War I

Some of us visited this exhibition and lecture at St George’s Church SE3. Information panels explained how the Independent Labour Party, Trade Unions, Suffragettes led by Sylvia Pankhurst and Red Clydesiders were among those who led the opposition to the war. The lecture was by Professor Mary Davis who researched this project, supported by the Marx Memorial Library. Afterwards 4 of us repaired to a local hostelry for food and refreshment.
